I have the owners manual right here, and this is what it says...
when the filter is not removed:
3.6 L (3.8 US qt)
when the filter is removed:
4.0 L (4.2 US qt)
so there it is...

Just changed mine, took just under 4 qts. First I used about 3.5 to fill it up using site glass (make sure and stand it up straight). Then turned it on and let it run for a minute to let it fill up the filter and all, the level went down in sight glass of course. Then I put nearly the rest of the quart in.
