Well, the right side, goes on extremly easy, you remover one bolt and replace it with the longer bolt in the Vortex kit. The nut slides into a slot that will keep it from turning as you tighten down the bolt. The Base unit of course must be attached at this time also, just slide the biolt through and tighten down. The slider is then attached by shorter bolts at this time. The left side you need to do some fairing modification, a small hole. This one attaches about the same way. Hopefully some one has pictures, I don't, but they are well worth the money and time to put them on.

jus look for the engine mounts(pic below) and bolt them straight to the mounts...make sure you torque them to spec or you could get some serious vibration...also make sure you do one side completely before starting the other side....if you have to cut the fairing, u might be better off having your local bike shop do it for you so you get a clean cut..

Agree with the torque specs but don’t go to the dealer to cut your fairing. Take the 50 – 80 bucks that they are going to charge you and go buy a Dremil tool and do it yourself. I have cut at least 6 and it is easy. Just start small and work your way out until you have a nice snug fit. Leave about 1/8†all around.

Post some pics when it is done either way.

This would be good in the DIY section, if someone wants to take pics and do a good write up!

OK as far as fairing modification, thre isnt any for the 2003-2004 Ninjas. It said no mod on the website and the guy agreed on the phone. And the guy who sold it to me had the same ones I have now=vortex.

but Im just trying to figure out how it all connects. Im sure its easy but I cant believe no instructions come with it. I guess they just expect me to know, which I dont.

Nothing just bolts right on I must have to take the engine mount/bolt off with an allen wrench?

Any pics or more explanation on how to do this, Im a bit unclear.

Trust me when I say that you HAVE to modify your left fairing to get the vortex sliders on. I have an 05 636 and I personally know that you have to do some cutting; I too looked for "no cut" sliders and was told you didn't have to make any modifications to the fairings when installing these sliders, but in fact you do. It's a small hole, and besides it's well worth the modifcation to have them. I have unfortuantely laid my bike down since having installed them and I tell you they are worth every penny!

Also I did not torque the bolts to specifications, as I had no luck in finding any such thing. Any idea from anyone else what they should be torqued to? Any idea about these vibrations you're refering to, maybe a little more detail; I experience some, but not sure if it's related to my install procedures?

You'll also need to get bigger allen wrenches for the frame sliders; once you actually get down and look at what you need to do, it's actually very easy.

If someone gets me the torque specs I'll remove mine and take pics and re-install and post them for you.

Here you go; Lft and Rt side bolts are 33 ft lbs and the locking nut or locker is 36 ft lbs.

Looking forword to seeing your post in the DIY section.

Ride safe.

My next day off is Sunday, I'll nock it out then and post them by Sunday afternoon; if I can get to it sooner, I will.

By the way, thanks for the torque specs...
