HELP SPEEDO TROUBLE!!
Hey, I got an 03 ZX6RR and bought a speedo for an 06 636. Everything is right except for the speed, its not showing the correct MPH. Is there something else wrong or is it just that its not going to work? Is there any way I can fix the problem?
Thanks,
John

RE: HELP SPEEDO TROUBLE!!
Hi John, It is possible the Speedo is defective. I looked at the wiring diagram and it seems the sensors work the same way. It is also possible that the signal wires are positioned differently between the 2 bikes at the sensor. What I'll do is install one of the 06 speedo's that I have and see if I have the same results. I will try tomorrow or Thursday and let you know.

I just looked at the wiring diagram & the speed sensors and they are the same except have different plugs. Antway, the signal to the speedometer is the same thru the same wire from the ECU sothe 06 gaugesshould work. Maybe the speed sensor is bad or the gauges. Was it working before? Why did you switch gauges and what happened to the old one?

What mods do you have done to the bike. Did you change the gearing? Alson doesn't the factory gearing on that bike differ from a 636? Could be the problem. 06 636 15 tooth front and 43 tooth rear. If your gearing is different that could be the problem as well. Buy a Speedo healer if that is the case. What do you think speed?

From what i know. the speed sensor gets its reading from the front sprocket so i dont' think the rear having more teeth would effect it as long as the front sprocket is the same amount of teeth.

That is true but with a different siz esprocket in the rear will make the rear tire spin change. Why do you think you need a speedo healer when you change your gearing even if it is just the rear being changed. With the smaller sprocket it will spin more then the original sprocket. so the speed will change. Hope that makes sense.
