Default Heading to the 1/4 mile...

Hey all,
I'm heading the drag strip this week for the first time. What RPM do you all launch at, and do you just dump it or ride it out? Any info is appreciated as the 1/4 mile is a new venture for me...

DO NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH! i take off between 6 and 7k. you slip the clutch. get out in a road and pratice before you go to the dragstrip.

it also depend on the grip at the track. i launch mine two different ways depending on which track i am at. but for the first couple for you 6 to 7 would be good not to hard but also not low enough to bog the motor.

I survived the night as wel did the bike. I was there for about 2.5 hours and got in 13 runs. My first six runs sucked major ***, but that was to be expected. I was having issues with getting stuck in neutral, lol... When I was missing my shift into second I was running consistently 12.0's. When I ran clean I was running 11.4's and 11.5's, they were fudging the speeds on the print outs since they have a full leather requirement to break 120mph in the 1/4. And tonight they were enforcing it, so the only guys "to break" 123mph were in full leathers. My final run of the night I ran a 11.5 and it showed 123.33, but my speedo showed 155 and after error was taken into account is closer to 133. I was pleased with this being my and the bikes first time out. I need straps in a major way if I want to start shaving more time off, as well as working on launching. I'm 200lbs, laying on the tank I couldn't keep the nose down in first to save my life hardly...
