Hard time getting out of neutral ('06 636)
My bike can be a real pain getting it into neutral but the real problem is occassionally I can't get it out of neutral. This is dangerous if I'm stuck at a light (which it has already done once or twice). Anyone else with this problem? Any good shops around the San Jose area to fix this?

I've noticed that with both my XR (more of a dirtbike) and my Ninja. Both I just two step forward and it's cool. You should be in 1st gear at a light anway. I know I know, you don't have to blah blah blah, it's saved my *** on many an occasion, so I keep doing it.

Are you shifting from 1st to neutral or from second down. Try going from 1st. Also make sure your chain is adjusted properly & lubed. It does affect shifting. If you're still having problems, try engaging the clutch and disengage just for a second, then put it in neutral. Also, make sute your clutch cable is ajdusted properly so it totally disengages the clutch when you pull the lever in. Just curious; How many miles? They seem to be more difficult when newer.

I forget if finding neutral is harder from 1st or 2nd (I don't ride it much). It is discouraging to know this is the norm but I'll have to either leave it in gear or walk it around like you guys mention. I do like the fact that it never hits a false neutral while riding.

You're probably right about the oil being a big part of the issue. It seems to do it most when hot. I'll try swapping in a few cans of 10-50 with the 10-40 to see if that helps.
