Default generator cover

Ok brand knew bike crashed her in front of my work. Total accident about 2 in the morning pulled out of the parking lot saw the light ahead turn green went to go. This bike instantly went sideways tried to lay it down, but the tires cought and high sided my ***. Any way real rashed up and a very screwed up ankle. I punctured my gen cover and oil dumped out. I was wondering if this was normal. I have never seen a wet mag set up. If there is supposed to be oil in there why. I just had a revelation while typing this maybe its to decrease stator and mag temps. Anyway any response would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

That sux, least you are ok. Woodcraft makes some cool looking covers.

About the oil...are you positive that is where the oil is coming from? I dunno much about bike engines, if it was a car I could prob help ya out.
