fuel question
ok so last wednesday or thursday i filled up my bike completely (or so i thought, i came up to the very top of the tank so i figured it was full) well this morning on my way to work my bike had no power.... it shut off on me while riding and would not start back up until i flipped it to reserve. normally i'd say, no big deal i just ran out of gas but it was only at 150 miles, i should be getting more distance on a tank shouldn't i?

RE: fuel question
well i dont' ride hard at all b/c i'm still very very new and not brave/stupid enough to ride it hard. i haven't even been over 90 yet ( i know shame on me, but i don't have a jacket yet and i really want one before i go any faster) anyways, i think one thing that my have contributed was that the gas that was in there mixed w/ my new 100 octane was about a year old and that may have been part of the equasion, i just filled up completely w/ 100 octane that i always use and we'll see how this works out for me.

RE: fuel question
well after doing some figuring... i guess this is just about right. aparently i have a 4 gallon tank? b/c when i filled up i put 3.3564 gallons in it. so out of 150 miles i used 3.5 galons which equals about 50mpg... so i guess i just expected more miles/tank.

BTW, you don't need 100 octane in your bike unlessit's just as cheap or you have more money that you need. Save it and buy some riding safety gear. 50 mpg is excellent gas mileage.

RE: fuel question
+1 to speed about 100 octane gas
read the post that we just had on 93 octane (it was a couple days ago). thats all you need... anything more is a waste of money unless you have you can tune your timing on your bike... I know 93 octane in NH is 3.20-3.30 and last time I checked (like 2-3yrs ago) 100+ octane was 5-6 bucks so it's gotta be way more now. save the money and buy toys for the bike

RE: fuel question
thanks guys i guess i was just expecting it to get more miles per tank, (i wasnt' even sure how big my tank was) and i don't have a gas light, only a reserve tank. but the only reason i was runnin 100 was to clean out the system, the fuel that wa sin there previously was sitting for 8-10 months and i wanted to get it all out of there. now i'll prolly be riding 93. thanks
