RE: fuel light bad!!!
You could disconnect your fuel gauge harness, and ground the two leads to see if the light quits flashing. If it does, replace the fuel level probe in the tank.
Without having ever seen the fuel level probe on a ZX6R, I'm only assuming it's a separate probe under the tank. (That's how my KZ750 is.) If I'm wrong, somebody correct me.

Check the indicator light as markmeinteil said!
Or if you can not test it just replace it, the sensor is most likely your problem.
Hope someone was nice enough to help you, I had a gardener pull over once to help me when I ran out and he gave me a gallon to get me home.

yeah my g.f came and hooked me up with some gas. anyone know or have a pic of where and what the fuel sensor would be located, and what size allen wrench fits the front tank bolt, i have a 03 636 by the way.

5mm allen for the front tank mount. Go to www.Kawasaki.com and look at the parts diagram in the Owner Info section. I believe the pump & sender unit is an all in one assembly. Try turning your ignition switch on and off a few times with the kill switch in the on position and let the pump prime & build pressure. Maybe when you ran out of fuel, air got in the sender area and it's giving a false indication. I'll see what I can find out. You can also try and disconnect the battery to see if it clears. I didn't know that the fuel light could blink; I thought it just came on and sayed on until you refilled. You can try tapping the bottom of the fuel pump with the tank raised also. Maybe it's just stuck or something.
