Default Frame Sliders for an '05 ZZR 600 / '00-02 ZX6R

I'm looking for some frame sliders for an '05 ZZR 600. It's pretty much the same bike as the '00-02 ZX6R. Does anyone have any good/bad/ugly experiences with their sliders? From what I've seen on the net so far, I may have to cut the fairing to put anything decent on. I'm mostly interested in protecting the fairing against the low-speed tipovers that I hear are so common when learning to ride.

Thanks in advance!

Gerg, Welcome to the forums. did some quick searching, but was only able to find this slider for your bike. I've bought from this shop before so I would go with what they say about the product. Sliders post some pics of your bike when you get the chance.

Yeah, I happened across those as well. Those use only a 6mm bolt to mount, and they don't seem to mount to a very sturdy location on the frame. There are a few other sites that supply a warning that because the bolt is just 6mm, it may snap in a crash, essentially making the slider useless. I was wondering if anyone had any real-life experience with these. In other words, should I be concerned w/the small bolt snapping in low-speed tipovers, or is it only a concern in racing/high-speed crashes? I'd rather not have to cut the fairing if I don't have to in order to get protection for the small stuff. How thick are the bolts on your sliders?

Here's a couple of links I've found, but I'd really like some nice war-stories involving '00-02 ZX6R's or '05 ZZR600's on sliders to make an educated decision. Or at least sliders that were mounted using a 6mm bolt...

Less shiny (e.g. not metal), similar shape (no cutting required):

Lots of horror stories about sliders like the one above, and why you should buy THEIR sliders instead (cutting required):

my sliders mount using the upper engine mount location. These bolts are also 10mm. I chose the Delrin version because I'm thinking that if you go down, something has to absorb the impact. Aluminum, and the graphite ones wouldn't flex so all the impact goes to the frame, where as the Delrin would and also wear down when sliding too. Don't know if I'm thinking in the right direction here, but that is what I went by when I got mine.

Thanks for the info. I'd most likely go with the Delrin as well for the same reasons... I'll poke around a bit more and post back if I find anything. I may just go for the small ones (i.e. no cutting) for now, they can't be any worse than no slider at all!

Also, just noticed you're from Hawaii... I was born & raised out there. Lived about 5 minutes away from the Kahala Mall. Every time I've been back the traffic has been worse and worse. Where do you find the open space to ride?

I was born and raised in the Islands but now Las Vegas is my home. I'm in the U.S. Air Force and decided that I wanted to settle down somewhere else instead of Hawaii for a change. My family is still back in Hawaii, and they visit me atleast twice a year so I never miss them. I go back to Hawaii every so often, but can only stand about two weeks of it before the humidity starts to kill me.
