Default Engine Differences zx600 and zx750

I have an 86 zx600a and I would like to know the differences between my engine and the similar year zx750. I am thinking they are the same case and I could swao it into my bike. Also, what about the 900? I know gsxr 600 and 750 are the same externally so I figured maybe the kawi's were too. Any info or links would be appreciated. Thanks,

Justin W

NOT! Won't fit unless you make custom brackets & machine the frame. The ZX7/ZX9 is a bigger/ wider engine. I have an 85 racebike; there isnt much room to shoehorn a bigger engine.

speedracer- would you be able to either post or PM me what you have done to your 85? I am looking to mod mine and I would like some input. Thanks,

Justin W

Oh, and I guess this isn't going anywhere, maybe I'll just pick up an extra 600 engine on fleabay and work it a little....

Mine has 88 top end which had shorter skirt pistons, lighter 88 rods, 14:1 compression, Moriwaki Cams & springs, FZR 750 intake valves, Ported head, 33mm Mikuni Flat slide Carbs, MSD ignition, D&D full exhaust, 89 GSXR 750 Wheels & Brakes, Fox Shox, Progressive suspension springs & Andrews Coils all in a 87 ZX600C RX limited edition Aluminum frame. It put out 105 rear wheel horsepower back then. I don't know if you want to do all that to yours because YOU'LL BE WORKING ON IT ALL THE TIME!! That's what burned me out; I stopped having fun. An Exhaust, Carburetors and a set of Cams will do wonders for that motor. The 17" wheels and a good shock will do the same for the suspension & handling. By the time you spend all that money, you can go and get a stock 636 that will WHOOP IT"S *** in every which way! I suggest that you just enjoy riding it or sell it and upgrade to a modern machine. You will be amazed at how easy the new bikes are to go fast on at the track; effortless handling and power. I am keeping my old bike just for sentimental reasons.

well I already have a full v&h supersport system, unifilters, polished the inlets of the carbs, which are jetted stg 3. I would like to find a set of cams, but didn't think anyone makes them anymore. What did you have to do to the forks/swingarm to get the gsxr wheels to fit? I was looking into doing that with the zx1000 wheels but I would have had to change pretty much everything. I too think I will keep this bike even if I upgrade to a newer one, just cause it's my first bike, and only has 8,900 miles on it. Too bad mines an 86 with the heavy steel frame, hard to do wheelies in... That's mostly why I want some more power.

also, forgot to ask about the flatslide carbs? Mine are already jetted and run ok, but maybe next winter I would like to get rid of the vacuum slide carbs for some "normal" style. Where did you get yours from? I was thinking of running zx750T fuel injected carbs and try to shoehorn a turbo onto the bike, just cause everything else I have is turbo, but I don't wanna pull it apart over the summer haha... Thanks again.

I don't know if the stuff is available anymore cams, carbs etc. You can try Sudco international; as far as the wheels & brakes, I had them done by Kosman Racing in San Francisco, CA.
