dyno runs
got to make a dyno run this weekend. 105.82 rwhp with just a slip on. they said the bike was running very rich which is causing some hp loss. i did not get to make the ecu conversion before i made the dyno run. guess i am going to have to think about the pc real soon to fix the rich problem.

RE: dyno runs
odd though i thought it would be running lean not rich with a s/o. everyone always talks about the lean condition that was the main reason i had it on the dyno to be sure it wasnt. then i get the real suprise that it is rich. now i am in a pickle to make a choice on the damper or to wait and get this problem fixed with the pc first. thanks for any help.

RE: dyno runs
Was it running rich throughout the rpm range or just at a certain point; top end or bottom end? You can try a BMC or a K&N air filter to try and lean it out a little. What's the condition of you air filter; is it dirty?

RE: dyno runs
hey speed, the air filter is in good shape that was my first thought also. it still is a stock filter. it is runnig rich on the upper end mainly but is rich all the way through just worse on top end. the reason i have not changed air filter to bmc or k&n is because i did not want to run lean. guess i am going to put the pc on there and try to find a good map for it. i just wont have a bunch extra to make dyno pulls to tell which map works best. do you think a aftermarket filter will help???? thanks

RE: dyno runs
Yeah, a K&N or BMC will lean it out a little. I was told that the BMC is better than the K&N. They look the same, same design (Cotton gauze filter material) so I bet they perform the same. BMC hav a street and a race version. I'd get the street version unless it's a race bike. I am also buying an 05 636 motor pretty cheap from a friend of mine out in Cali. I'll be trying to swap it out this winter. I'll get to do the jumper mod after all!
Also was your HP rating STD or SAE?

RE: dyno runs
Yea I agree with speedracer on the filter thing, only problem is you wont know if it helps or not unless you flop down the $$ for another run.
I would not do the flapper or butterfly removal until you have the pc ready for install. Your s/o manufacture should have a map for your bike with the mods you want to do. There map would save you some $$ from having to get a custom one done.
