I believe they are exactly the same. Good luck.

Default not the same....

i'm having similar problem now. '97 zx6r chassis and 2000 engine swapped. direct bolt in- yes. mounts up the same. however, the older engine is a cdi ignition set-up while the newer is a tpi ignition. no big deal right ?? just change over the electronics, right ?? WRONG!! the newer engine's cam/timing rotor has more "timing notches". so it tells the cdi box to fire waaaaay to often and too many times. and to make things even worse- the shaft that it is bolted tois splined where the older engine's shaft is smooth with a small pin to keep it from spinning. in short- can't just change out the cam/timing rotor. i'm in the process now of fabricating my older rotor to be splined so as to fit the newer engine. will, post if it comes out successful.

so it sounds like you may have answered your other thread now knowing that the timing may be causing your starting issue??? I have no answers here, just here for the learning curve and any possible support.

Default answered myself...

yes, i think that is my problem. well, it's not helping at this time anyway. i was looking for anyone that could confirm it for me. or at least an experience similar to mine. i should have my "new and improved" cam rotor back in a couple days. after i put it back on and give it another try (hopefully it should work) i'll certainly be posting the results in case anyone else is having the same problem. or considering the same engine swap. i know i wouldn't have made the buy if i'd known. and i'll post some pics then too.
