Before you asked I can't post pictures at this time. But the other day I cut down my RS-5 3 1/4". It looks so much better and sounds alittle louder too. I'ts pretty easy to do also. All you need is a hacksaw, drill w/bit and a rivet gun w/ 3/8" rivets. After removing the exhaust mark 3 1/4" from the back side. If you cut off from the tip then you'll cut off the name plate and it will be harder to cut the inside tube. Use a hacksaw and cut around the exhaust NOT STRAIGHT THREW. After you cut it apart pull the 2 parts apart. There is a lot of packing material inside but it's ok. Now you can drill out the rivets and remove the end cap. Also after you remove the 2 springs you can remove remove the short pipe section. Now you can mesaure 3 1/4" from the end of the center section and cut it off. You'll see a wire mesh covering the center section, you'll need to measure another 3 1/4" and just cut the mesh. And finally cut the packing material down. Now you can reassemble everthing. Remember to add tabs in proper place when you rivet the exhaust back together. Most of it was staight forward if you have some competence. When I fix my computer at home I'll try to post some pics.

Can't wait to see the pictures. I am getting ready to cut mine also to install a shorter Carbon Fiber Sleeve on my FMF. The carbon weave is Red & Black; looks awesome. I will post pics when done.
