cracked tires?

They are porbably weather cracks.....Right now it is probablt surface cracking, But still not good. Once a tire starts to get cracks they will get worse from there. I am guessing your tires are old.. At least 2 years maybe... Once they start cracking, it will also change the balance of the tire, and cause the tire to have more runout.

I just bought the bike and they still have alot of tread left. The bike is a 98 and the condition of the bike is excellent. The guy barely used it. He bought it for his 16yr old daughter to ride but she got scared of it. So I'm guessing they have just been sitting on the bike for a while.

More then likley if crakes exist in between the tread then there is damage to the rubber compound itself, and though it may or may not feel like it the tires will not grip the road as adequitly as new fresh tires would. To be on the safe side I would buy new tires, but if you dont just ride very carefully....

yeah....trust me....front wheel washouts suck. I had it happen on my cruiser coming down a mountain (underestimated the amount of miles left on the tire). Thankfully I was able to keep it upright.
