Default COOLING SYSTEM ISSUES

JUST GOT MY BIKE RUNNING YESTERDAY AND I NOTICED THAT
1. MY BIKE IS RUNNING REALLY HOT (225 DEGRESS)
2. MY FAN DOESENT COME ON.
3. THE HOSES ATTACHED TO THE RADIATOR DONT HOLD TO MUCH PRESSURE, THE COOLANT PASSES BUT IT IS NOT A HIGH FLOW.

IS IT NORMAL FOR A 2004 636 TO RUN THAT HOT? MY BIKE IS BONE STOCK. PLEASE HELP. WHAT CAN I DO TO CHECK MY BIKE.

Yes they do run hot. Only while at a stop should it be that high (225) My fan comes on at 214. Check to see that your fan still spins and not seized. You can put power to it to see if it works. Also check your plug to thefan switch/sensor. Check your coolant level in the radiator & resevoirtoo. If all those things check out good, you can try putting in some water wetter (made by Redline); it's supposed to make the bike run cooler. Engine Ice doesn't seem to work. Also make sure you don't have any leaks. The 03-04's had a service bulletin for loose hose clamps that were leaking which could cause overheating. Check all your hose clamps for looseness. That will keep you busy for a bit. Let me know what you find.

Pretty much what Speed said above. Do your checks and let us know on what you find.

i hot wired the fan and it spun. where is the fan/ sensor switch? if it is on the right hand side behind the frame it doesnt look fried. i took that connection apart and wired the fan from there. with no problem. the bike has a lil less than 2 quarts of antifreeze. they told me thats all i would need. i dont have a drop in the reserve tank.

Does your fan ever come on? Let the bike idle until it gets hot to see if or when the fan comes on. You may have a bad fan switch. You can check it with an ohmmeter. Look in the service manual for specs.

I always wonder the same thning. Some timeswhen 90+ out side at stop lights i will get around 228-230. I can hear my van come on and all. The odd thing is if i blip the gas or hold it at like 1.5-2k rpm the temp drops. Im using I.C.E. for collent. My friends GSXR never gets about 220 so I always freak out when my temps get that high. When im moving the temps are fine in the 190's-210's.

I might install another radiator fan on mine. It gets hot here and my bike runs hot too. especially in stop & go traffic. I turn mine of if I'm waiting at a light but keep the ignition on just so the fan runs.

It is just a thermal switch. As said above just use your multimeter to prove when your switch makes. Or if it makes. You can use a thermometer taped on your hot side to get a close idea on what temp the switch makes.
