Default coolant leak 03 zx6r need help

hey guys (and gals),

i had a coolant leak in my 03 zx6r last year and before this season i took it to my shop to get checked out. they said it was only a loose clamp and said it was taken care of. it was okay for a while, but now it's leaking the same way. i took of the fairings and found it's coming from the top of the engine. without taking off the tank, i'm not sure exactly where, but it's leaking down the motor and spraying out the right side fairing vent. just looking for some feedback. should my shop pay for the repairs?

thanks

Has it ever overheated? See if you can visually locate the leak before taking it to the shop. May just be a loose clamp also. Tighten it if you can get to it and see if it still leaks. If it leaks elsewhere, you may have to take it to the shop unless you can fix it yourself or another forum member can help you out.

Tanks easy to take off on the 03-04's. You may not have to take it off all the way. Just lift the front and use a piece of 2x4 to hold it up. This way, you can run it to see where the leak is.

good to know the tank isn't hard to prop up. i'll hopefully get a chance this week to do it. the leak isn't that bad, but when i ride it and she warms up, you can smell the coolant and it sprays on my right foot...kind of annoying. like i said, she hasn't overheated yet, but needs to be taken care of. wish me luck!

Hey importmonkey was the first leak you found on the bottom of the left side? Coming from what looks like a thermostat housing.
