I only have around 1700 miles on it and those are just easy street riding nothing rough. It has the factory oil in it still.
You have put on 1700 miles on the stock oil ?!

Your dealer should have told you this, but the stock oil is a very thin low viscosity oil that is made for break-in only 500 miles tops. At 500 miles you need to change it to a motorcycle specific oil and change it again at 1000 and 1500. After that you can go 2000 to 3000 miles between oil changes depending on the way you ride and the temps you ride in.

Don't adjust any cables, they are set from the factory correct and do not need adjustment so early. Change the oil and I bet it will shift a ton better and grip better. That's if you haven't already glazed your friction plates with so many miles on that oil. Good Luck!
