carb synchronization
hey fellaz, i was trying to sync my carbs today on my 03 636 and when i hooked the gauges(i have 4 individual gauges), and fired up the bike, the needs on all 4 were jumping up and down, they were all jumping with in the same vac range- 100-200 mmhg. just wondering what would cause this and what i need to do to fix it. i know spec is like 180mmhg +- 10. and also my bike still won't go past 10,000 rpm's, last time it did this i used injector cleaner and it cleared it up for awhile, now its doing it again, cleaner won't help now...could it be injectors, or the fuel pump relay?? any suggestions would help. thanx...keith

RE: carb synchronization
That bike is fuel injected, what carbs are you talking about? You can not adjust fuel injectors without some type of tuning software that can tie into the ECU. With your problems listed and the fact that the injector cleaner helped for a while, I would just replace the injectors. Also those things that you are calling carbs are throttle bodies.

RE: carb synchronization
yea i know the bike in fuel injection, its throttle body injection, not direct injection like th '05 and up...i havent tried it on another inline 4 yet, but yea, when i restrict the lines it becomes steady. wasn't sure if it was still accurate that way.....another question, what if the fuel pressure regulator is not opening fully at higher rpm's. i'm pretty sure it has one. (i work on audi's, so i'm startin with the basics, still not 100% knowledgable on the bike engines yet)...

Good Question, I do not know.
On the analogs, I inserted a plastic orifice to the tubing to restrict the fluctuation.

RE: carb synchronization
it started doin it before the power commander. the gas is fine. i think the first time it did it was at around 15,000 miles...i know have 26,000..i've already put a new pump on it at like 18,000...

RE: carb synchronization
Check your cam & crank position sensors. The bike may be sensing a false redline and shotting off the ignition. Did you crash or drop the bike anytimebefore it first started doing it?

RE: carb synchronization
the only time the bike fell, it was in the garage and my leg took most most of the impact, ran fine after that.. the crank and cam sensors did cross my my mind, but i thought if it were that it would do it at different rpm's, not just 10k...but i'll look into it
