Default Carb issues.... What to do...

Well believe it or not reading the manual and actually going through the bike part by part will help you figure out what may be wrong with it...

After troubleshooting the electrical system I am pretty sure the problem lies in the carbs. The bike fires up and runs but will stall itself out after a few minutes of normal driving. After it stalls out you have to hold the throttle all the way down to keep it running.. Also I removed the air cleaner and ran the bike, there was so much extra fuel that there was raw gas sprikling out of the top of the carbs... Also the vapor recovery line had tons of "fuel vapor" too. I know the carb was rebuilt, and the jets have been changed...

Also there were tons of vacuum lines that were not hooked up.. There is that valve that is supposed to "T" with two hoses and connect to the carb.. Those are not connected. Also A lot of other lines are disconnected or blocked off... The Haynes does not provide a vacuum diagram. Can anyone help me with a diagram to hook all this back up?

Thanks.. Also What is the typical charge for carb servicing at a dealer. i would like the floats set, the carb jetted propperly for the muzzy and then sync'd.. Can they sync it without having the bike there?

Take a picture of the carbs on the bike with the air cleaner off se we can see what you are looking at as far as the hose go.

The dealer prices vary for the worked described but I bet about 400.00

They need the carbs to be on the bike when they sybnc them too.

I have 95 zx7 that may be very close to the same config so post the pic and I will compre the 2 for you.

Yes, post a pic. Who rebuilt the carbs? Sounds like either there is crap stuck between the float needle valves or the floats are set too high.

Here are the pics.. It was built by a shop caled BushMotorsports in TN.. But that was in 06. The bike hasn't run right since according to the previous owner.

Quick question- will the STOCK carbs off an 98-02 model work on my bike? I cna find them on Ebay all day and thought it might be worth a shotwhile I have these rebuilt...

Well I laid down some cash on a "like new" carb off a running bike (96 Ninja zx600f) so I hope that will solve the problem.. The only issue now is that the bike has anaftermarket Muzzy pipe on it and I am going to need to have the new carb tuned/jetted for that huh....

Are you sure that it is a full exhaust system, headers and can or is it just a can?

If it is just the can you should be fine but if it is a full system you will need to increase the jets, adjust the AF mixture and the needle positions.

Dyno Jet makes a good kit and they come with easy instructions.

+1 on NS's advice. The pics aren't too clear so difficult to tell with the hoses. See if someone near you has a similar bike & compare or get a kawasaki manual. You can also go on www.kawasaki.com and look at the parts diagrams. That may help with the hoses.

I think it's just the can... I am going to slap this new carb on here in a couple days and see where that leaves me..

The only problem is someone said that this carb off a KAW zx6f will not work on my bike.. I can't even find a zx6f anywhere online.. All of them seem to be zx6rf1... i am confused. I hope I didn't waste money on a carb that will not bolt up to my bike...

You will know if you compare the two carbs if it will fit or not. Do you know ofa good mechanic to take your carbs to? Where do you live?
