California 636 Smog Kit?
Only from previous experience am I even asking this. I have an XR650L, sweet bike that got even sweeter when I spent the $30 for a kit to help remove the smog rebreather system. I notice there's one for the 636 as well. Anyone do it? Any noticable differences? Thank you!

Due to tree hugging hippies, most all bikes (that I'm familiar with atleast) that are destined for use on California roadways require certain emissions. Part of this program means a "rebreathing" system that utilizes a couple coal filters n what not. I'm not a genius, and I don't exactly know how it all works, but it does involve some extra tubes, coal filters, and otherwise excess bullcrap. I have a Honda XR650L (enduro) and when I tore off the emissions junk (so I can ride it only offroad *cough*... sure ...) it made a noticable difference with less lag while twisting the throttle, and less cracking/popping while decelerating.
Just wondering if it'll help the 636 any or should I not bother

That system allows fresh air to enter the exhaust so it can burn any residual unburned fuel in the exhaust which is why you hear the popping. The race manual says to remove and plug the system with the plates. There hasn't been any conclusive dyno data of the HP advantages except for the weight savings with all the stuff removed; Canister, hoses etc.

I was actually looking at that seeing if i could plug the red and blue hoses that go from the tank, but i couldnt find the right allen to take off the air box so i just let it alone. So if i decide to do that i just remove all the stuff connected to the charcoal canster and just block off the lines?
