I did it close to the manual. The most important thing is to vary the RPM's

you want to work the engine. do not beat the **** out of it. use all gears. like hit sixth gear at 30 for mph, this will put full load on the bike with out over stressing the engine. hit all rpms, but not high rpms for long. change the oil often like every two hundred miles. and this will help breaking the bike. also good to let it cool completly after the first few rides before starting again. and make sure the temp is up before riding

I think every 200 miles is too often. I wouldnt do it more than every 500

I rode my like I would under normal conditions (hitting the full rpm range) and didn't change oil until 1000 miles... Haven't had any issues with her, and I just turned 8000 last night

from what the shops tell me is just ride the bike. don't race it or cruise at the same rpm/gear for 100 miles at a time. Like stated earlier vary the rpms alot, it helps the rings seat properly, other than that, at around 500/600 miles, change the oil and giver hell.

If you think about it, wouldn't it just really matter the first time it was turned on? I mean they turn them on before they get to the dealer. How many people have had issues with rings not seating properly? When they are done being assembled they have to test them to make sure they work no? And obviously dont redline every gear but just drive it like normal. I had a new Scion (Stolen 5/2/06) and i picked it up with 1 mile on the dash. The next day i had a 1 hour commute on the parkway. 60 miles to work and 60 miles back. And i was driving like i normally do. Never had an issue. Had that for a year and 2 months.

I dont think they are started before they get to the dealer. I know all the ones here come completely dry...as opposed to a car thats ready to go
