Today I tried the trick where you use a long piece of tubing, tape the mid-section of tubing onto the fork about half way up, leave the bleeder screw open, and just start pumping. This method worked very well for me. The bike actually has stiffness in the lever now.
That's a really good/ smart way to bleed the brakes. Even better is to wrap some teflon thread tape around the threaded part of the bleeder screws and do the above. Make sure there is fluid in the bleeder lines or you'll suck air back in the system.
