shawn....your best bet would be to go out and get magazines for your research....I say this cause none of us will have both of these bike in our garage to tell you the difference, and the stuff we tell you will be from what we read from the very same magazines. You asked for the bike that is best...best for what?? 6R street, 6rr race...that's what these bike are built for....

from what i have heard the 636 and the 6rr is the same bike except the 36cc difference. the 6rr came out to keep it legal in the 600cc racing classes.
the bikes other wise are exactly the same

I was told by the kawisaki delaer that there were a good bit of differences, something about totally different suspension, and i have YET to see a 6rr outrun a 636, so if you want more power, get the 636, unless you want to be different than most people. Thats why so many more 636 are out there rather than the 6rr..... just my opinion on it.

the major difference is in the engine, mostly in the fact that the 636 has more mid range power. the extra ccs gives it more torque and powere through the midrange which is why ther 636 is faster then the rr cause with that more mid range you get up into the fun rpms quicker

Other than the differences already mentioned I think the suspension components are basically the same with the RR getting TiSiCN coating on the front tubes to reduce stiction. This is like the TiN coat on Ohlins superbike forks that's works very well. The rear on the RR has high and low speed compression damping. I'm not sure if the R has this but I'd like to know if anyone knows for sure. The RR has a better race ready suspension setup but only a very good racer would be able to tell the difference. The price difference is pretty much the close ratio tranny and slightly upgraded suspension.
