Yes zzrick, they all charge. Meant to say that spending the $200 in tools/manual is a good deal in the long term. Not just taking the ride in for a quick check for $200

hahaha, I was also agreeing with the charging. The tool thing was supposed to be a side note!
This is a give and take world, and most dealers that I have experienced don't give much.

So how much is the avg annual cost of maintenance for a bike, providing that a majority of the work is done myself? I've never owned one cause the last one I had was when I was 15/16 and my dad did all the maintenance...

The avg annual cost will vary according to rides and the riders expectations. I prolly spent $110 last year not including tires, chains, sprockets. I have K&N and BMC filters on both of my rides, so they are cleaned and misted. Usually carry a case of oil filters per ride on the shelf, so guestimated the cost of that. Synthetic oil is not cheap, two oil changes were like $70. Flush the fork fluids, and brake fluids. Chain lube lasts for a long time as does blue locktite and safety wire. The worst area on cost was those stupid plastic fairing rivets! or the .68 cent each nylon washers that get lost easily. But I would think that a street ride being in the $100 annual range is not bad.
