2006 636 oil change
Hello, im new here and have a few questions reguarding my first oil change to my 2006 636.
If possible could someone indicate where the oil filter, the oil fill cap and the drain bolt is? Pictures would help alot!
Also is there any fairing removal needed to get access to the drain plug or oil filter?
Thanks a bunch.

I'm assuming its the same as my 06 rr but if it isn't i apologize. The filter is on the front of the bike on the left side right in behind your radiator hose. When I did did mine I loosened the left side fairing. The filler cap is on the right side of the bike right around where your the tip of your right foot would be while riding just above. And for the drain plug it is on the underneath of your bike just feel around I don't remember exactly what size of socket it was. The plug sets just forward of your pegs. Hopefully this helps a little bit sorry couldn't pics

you will need to take off the lower part of the fairing to make draining easier. dont forget to torque that oil plug. oh...and hopefully you got an oil filter with a socket wrench bolt on end so you can torque it. i had to pound a philips screwdriver thru the stocker since it didnt have one and i am not superman. (it was too late in the night to go get an oil filter wrench )

if you have the manual it should show where the filler cap is and the drain plug, and you can pretty much see the filter if you look through the left side fairing. but they are pretty much universal in where everything is located if you know how engines work.
I also had to drive the phillips through the filter...worked like a charm!! lol

Just did mine last night for the first time. It was pretty easy and only took me about an hour or so. That was with some interuptions from the wife and kids. Steps where just like those above.

Eklipse I agree if you are a beginner and have no clue on what you are doing. but at the same time you need to get some experience if you really want to get into things and figure them out don't you? Plus it saves me not only like $40-$50 bucks but I get the bike back the same day and it aint FUBAR'd yet. [8D]
