Default 1/4 mile ? need to drop some tenths (updated)

Hello guys..I know this isn't the strip forums, but no one has posted in there for months! So my question is how much could I gain by going +2 in the rear? I am already -1 in the front. My current mods are yoshi slip on, k&n filter,pcIII, -1 front sprocket. and the fastest I've been is 10.82 @ 125mph. With a 1.73 60ft time.

This season after I get it back together...I will be changing to a HINDLE high mount slip-on, not looking for much a gain there, but just got it for looks. I've got a buddy that is just itching to beat my time with his 06' gsxr600...and I want to put the hurtin' on him.

my husband drag races a 6R too. To help his times he bought a strap for the front (to stop it from popping up) stretched, lowered, PC, full ti Arata,

EDIT: stock front sprocket, up 4 in the rear.

his fastest time was a couple weeks he did a 10.35. He averages 10.50. His average 60' is 1.60.

the main thing here is if you want the bike streetable. Most muscle cars that are set up to drag can't go much faster than their top speed in the 1.4. yer top speed is 125...i'm sure the bike can go faster...so you keep changing the gearing so that yer in the power all the time. so going up 2 in the rear would help ALOT. your top speed overall would drop but your useable power below your top speed would increase.

i dunno how to explain it really..your bike won't top out as high, but you will reach that top speed faster than you would on stock gearing. so say on stock gears you hit 125 in 11 seconds and top out at 160, when you gear down you will hit 125 in 10 seconds but your top speed will only be 145 or 140. these aren't exact calculations, but you see where i'm headed. also, a longer swing arm would prevent hop and put more power usable power down. but i thinik that the +2 will be the cheapest way to drop a few tenths.

Thanks for the replies! Sounds about the best way...I'm not into full drag racing so an extended arm is out of the question. I do have some lowering links...I will try 2" lower and strap the front, +2 up and hope that gsxr doesn't have a chance !

+1 and you could get a 1 or 2 link longer chain and slide your rear axle all the way back making your wheelbase slightly longer but you may not have a lot of chain adjustment left. When you go up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket, you'll need a new chain anyway, so see how far back you can move the rear axle and still have some adjustment space left.

I thought you could get away with the stock chain by going -1 down 2 up ? If not, what chain/sprocketis recommended?

You can probably get away with it but you will have to slide your axle all the way up. I was suggesting a slightly longer chain (1 or 2 links)so you could slide the axle farther back; this would make your wheelbase longer and be less likely to wheelie when launching. Just a little trick instead of getting a longer swingarm.

Well one month later, I got it back together and went to the strip! Felt good to get back on it and rip it up a bit.... As the air kept getting cooler, my times kept dropping. First I started out with a 11.11 @ 127mph, then dropped to a 10.88 @ 126mph... 10.80 @ 126, 10.74 @ 127... AND LAST RUN... 10.67 @ 128.9mph.

I took your advice and went 2up in the rear and gained 3mph !

MODS - hindle high mount, -1 +2...Power commander, filter, lowered and strapped. My buddy with the gsxr600 was 11.0's all night.
