For the street I would get an 05-06 636. Or if you have the money to add some aftermarket items, such as a PCIII, Ignition Module, (Race ECU)Exhaust, Air filter, Jumper Mod,Gearing (for low end)etc, get the 07 and spend the money on the extras. I know that the 07 is easier to ride faster on the trackbecause it handles so well and you don't have to fight it as much. Less resistance equals less fatigue and more speed. It is also more Aerodynamic for faster top speeds than the 05-06 636. I have a friend that races both the 05 636 and the new 07 ZX6R and he says the 07 is faster, handles better and easier to ride faston the track. They are leading their class points and 3rd overall in endurance racing so they know whay they're talking about.

Of course, if you have the money, you can spend a bunch of money on the 05-06 on suspension & engine mods to make it handle and go faster.

You decide.

They (07's)are winning on the track. The top speed is like 170 on the 07's. But for the street, the 636's are abetter choice. More CC's equals more bottom & midrange punch which is where their advantage is.
top speed is 154 on the 07. i believe that no 600cc makes it into the 160's (and im not talking about indicated, im talking about actual) i wanted an 07 bad because a bunch of my friends have 07s and talk about how great they are, i got to ride one and it felt very underpowered (this was my first time in awhile back on a 600 from a liter bike) i rode a 07 cbr 600rr and i was very impressed and was sold until no dealer would even negotiate, there is no way i am paying the same for a 07 cbr 600rr that i did for my 07 r1 so i went packing and came across a new 06 le that the dealer let me test out and i really liked the feel....needless to say i left the dealership with the 636 and it was only $8500 OTD! i love the 07s style dont get me wrong, the gauges are very very nice but it just didnt function for me, if you are about the street i would go with a 636 or daytona 675.
no top speed is 170. you have to run to get it there but it is far higher then 154
that is still hard for me to belive because all the magazines say that top speed is 154 and from my friends reviews i get the same feedback that past 160 is not reasonable. i have speedohealers on both of my bikes and they are both gps calibrated, i think the 636 would have a hard time to push 160 and if i did do it then it would take miles of road....the magazines say the 05-06 636 does 166. also with the whole areodynamics argument, it doesnt matter how areodynamic something is if it doesnt have enough power to push it, the 04-05 cbr 1000rr tops out at 175....so a bike with 40-45 less rwhp can pull a 5mph less top speed? come on guys we are not comparing a pencil with a brick.

hey kozumasbullitt, i own 2 07's.. ones turboed for track racing and the other has -1 +3, PCIII, and two bros slip on... and i have yet to find another 600 that will hang with my non-turbo bike... infact a friend has a 1992 GSXR1100, and i know its older technology and carbed, but my non turbo bike will stay right next to it up to 150mph... and at the track i see guys there with stock 636's and have yet to see a stocker run faster than 11.00's and mine stock went 11.21, with just the mods' it has now runs 10.60's and there hasnt been a 600 at the track thats stock height and no engine mods that has ran faster than that... not saying my bikes the **** or anything maybe its cause i dragrace bikes alot and i'm good at it, but i'm just stating that dont believe everything you read.. i was out with the buddy of mine with the blue 636 today and he passed me at 140mph but i was also bouncing off the rev limiter in 6th.....

Here is a perfect example of speedometer error......

I have personally seen 165mph on my speedo of the CBR, but when run on the dyno for a top speed run, it did 159mph which of course is without any wind resistance.

No stock 600 will do an actuall 170mph.

BTW..... I went to the strip for the first time ever Friday night with the 600RR and cut a best of 11.07 at 124mph. I would scan in the slips, but my *** is laying in the hospital right now due to a dirt bike wreck yesterday. If I can figure out how to cut a better light I am sure I can get into the 10's!

you are probably running into guys that dont have the skill you have, at my track most 636s run high 10's and 07s run low 11's. with your gearing you would run out of room so fast it is not funny, 150 top speed is a dream with it geared like that. i bet you have one hell of a 1/4 monster but you may find yourself very dissappointed on a freeway race.

also about the comment on beating a gsxr1100, i bet k7s with my 636 on occasion and lost to then with my r1 as well....that means that when i win i am racing a noob that doesnt know how to ride and when i lose with my r1 i lose becasue plain and simple the k7 is a faster bike.

I got no problem believing you can outrun a air/oil cooled Gix1100. I have video showing an R6 out running me on the straights at the track and I was running a built Bandit with a 1200 air/oil cooled motor. It's the primary reason I sold the Bandit and bought my CBR!

Can post the youtube link if you want!

meanstrk, think what was referred to was ,yes, the 1100 was the old style, the K7 is this years 1k, and that the R1 is not capable of keeping up with the K7 on the straights.

I don't think Kawasaki would go backwards in top speed with the new 07 ZX6R. That would give all the other 600's a clear advantage on top speed and you would never see Green Machines on the Podium; which has not been the case in the recent races. Look at Daytona. That was the fastest track for AMA and the Supersport 600 Kawasaki's were flying on the banking at Top Speed.
