Default 06 6r vs. 07 6r

ok this is not meant to be a bashing grounds for either bike. The reason im doing this is becuase im trying to decide on either going with the 07 brand new or a slightly used 06 and save the cash. This is my first bike and most roads around here are straights, not really concerned about hauling *** around the twisties... yet! From a performance standpoint stock for stock, or with same mods, which one performs better in stoplight, or highways runs? the 06 has the xtra 36cc so i figured it would yeild greater gains, but ive heard the opposite. Pros and cons of either would be much appreciated....

Thanks,
Josh

all straights? if this isnt your first bike i would go with a zx10 or cbr1000 maybe even a busa.

but if you have you heart set on the zx6 then maybe the low end and midrange might be appealing in the 636 for light to light traveling.
07 does most of its mean running in the higher rpms. from what i read about it

Josh, not knowing exactly what you need, sounds like street for the most part though. The 06 6r will foot the bill just fine. If you track it, than the 07 6r because of the class specifications. Who wants to race an 06 and later 6r(636) in the same class of 750's? Whereas the '07 6r is a good track weapon for the 600class.

i've got the 07' man and when i ran a 636 he smashed me up to about 100mph... thats when my gets up the the rpms and i passed him at about 115 and kept pulling up to about 150, that was when we were stock for stock

i would go with the 636, and save the cash for future mods like a pc111, aftermarket filter, gearing, exhaust, and suspension upgrades

i've owned a 636 for a little while now, and 3 of my close friends bought 07 6r's. 2 black, one silver with the red rims.

after driving/racing/looking at them overall...i would take my 636 over them. it may be the driver, but i pull on them in every gear just slightly. the 07's do rev higher though. they have also ridden my bike, and tell me that it feels like it has more punch to it.

aesthetically i would take my 636 over the 07 anyday. i will say that the exhaust and tail on the 07's i envy but in every other appearance aspect, i would take the 05-06 anyday.

also the seat is more comfortable on the 636's, which doesnt seem like a big deal until you go riding for longer then 20 minutes.

and my biggest plus? i paid $7,000 cash for my 2006 zx6r with 1200 miles on it. they financed their 07's for $11,000 +

I'd go a little cheaper then do some upgrades down the road for fun.

Best prices around are at www.otdcyclesports.com Friend bought one for just $8,299 out the door (everything included). Yep, the seat can be a little annouying but the tranny is great (trying to get the 636 in or out of neutral/first can take a full light). The gear indicator, analog tach, nimble handling place it far above the previous version. I'd get a new one and forget the little extra power of the 636 or change sprockets if you really need it.
