Default 06 636 Overheating

Okay so my 06 ZX6r starts fine. However after about a mile I reach the 190 degree mark. On the way back from that mile I reach the low 200 degrees. Every time I shift back into first gear it will stall. The hotter it gets the harder it is to start back up. So I take it to the infamous Kawasaki dealer in Victorville, CA because Im thinking its my cooling system and fan, while it is still under warranty. They do an oil change and tell me they let it idle and cant duplicate the problem. I tell them to ride it and they say its normal.
Idiots! They say my fan is working fine. So I take it back out today and same thing. I look down at the fan and the fan is stuck stationary and wont turn on.

Anyone else have this problem? I really want my bike back and want to be able to do my vegas runs again. But I cant get a mile without it stalling due to overheating.

They say my fan is working fine. So I take it back out today and same thing. I look down at the fan and the fan is stuck stationary and wont turn on.

Other than me looking down at my fan no other diagnostic testing. When the bike is on the fan is not. When I turn the bike off the fan does not turn off. My temp is reaching in the low 200s and stalling and my fan will not turn on to help cool it down.

electric fans don't turn on till the sending unit tells it to. so you won't see it running all the time. low 200's is not over heating neither. a little hot yes, but if ur in traffic stop and go it's normal.

If its not overheating, then explain why it stalls when I downshift into first gear when it gets so hot. Also why it wont restart. The hotter it gets the more difficult it is to start. It would not start after it stalled at 208 degrees. Usually it was running between 170-180. Thats it. Then all of a sudden its running low 200's within the first mile and wont cool off.

not sure. up to 200 degrees in the first mile sounds odd. but fans don't turn on till 210 to 214 degrees. ive heard of coils going bad and heat making them drop out. might wanna test and or replace it. keep us posted

sounds like you might be a little low on coolant. I ride an 06 and my fan doesn't come on intill 210 and it only cools the bike down to 208 and kicks off. Kawi's do run a little on the warm side. You could always use some water weter in it. It will help keep the temps down too.

Hey guys I dont mean to be a pain but the major problem is not that its running hot, yeah that sucks too. But within the first mile im reaching temps of 210 and my bike stalls when downshifting to first gear and the higher the temp the more difficult to start if it restarts at all.

have you checked the coil? take it out of the hot bike if possible or heat up on the bench when testing. i have heard of them dropping out when hot. as far as how you test im not really sure im guess with a V.O.M. ive only read this on other forums. I might be a post ***** but read alot of other forums too. *thank god for a good job* whew let me know and we'll go from there.
