it wont matter either way, the 636 over powers the new 600s across the band. his advantage is in the twisties but that is all rider skill. racing from a roll is a dumb thing to do because when you peg the throttle you are going to lift your front.....hence roll on wheelies. if he cant win from a dig then it is most likely he wont win from a roll, only people who cant ride/drive wants to race from a roll because they cant get thier vehicle to launch. go to a dragstrip so you have some timeslips and safety of a closed enviorment.

Rider skill can make up for a lot. If some one knows there bike well enough to shift at the right places to keep it in the power band it can count for a lot. Some riders thing just twist and shift when you hit the rev limiter. Even going from a start takes some skill.

i usually stage up at 6-7k rpm but dont just dump the clutch....drag racing kills the life of the clutch but its what you need to do to get great times.

Just practice your launch from the tree.

You should beat him if you know how to ride and know what your bike is capable of. I currently have a 05 636 and seemed to always beat my bros on their R1s and CPR100RRs in the quarter mile. This is my first 636 cc bike and I got it due to the insurance break. I had a ZX10R, GSXR1000 and a CBR1000RR and I pull better times on my 636 in the 1/4 except for the ZX10R. I went most of the way with the ZX10R fighting to keep the front tire on the ground and still ran low 10s with the bike stock. On the 636 my fastest time was 11.09 in the 1/4. Its a great bike! You should have no problems beating that GIXXER 6. Good luck! Be safe!
