if you are shifting without a clutch the right way, (which is staying on the gas while holding your toe up to put pressure on the shift lever, and it wont go into gear as long as you are on the throttle, as soon as you go off the throttle it shifts to the next gear) this actually is not unloading and loading the engine like when you use the clutch. i personally use my clutch for upshifting throught first and second and then from third on im not using it. i rode my 9r the same way for a year and had no problems, as long as you are doing it right. dont just upshift without the clutch while you arent on the throttle. i guess only time will tell if i end up with tranny problems or tps problems or fuel injection problems... i dont know about the whirling sound though, you run your bike at high rpms? 2nd gear 7000 3rd gear 8000 4th gear 9000+ etc?

thinking about it, if you hear a strange sound and its a new bike, just take it to the dealer and let someone qualified take a look at it. better safe then sorry.

lol, good point. The sound is only present when in a high gear at a really low rpm (ie 6th at 1500 - 2000 rpm is the most noticable).

lmao, I never accelerate under that condition. By riding around with low rpm like that, I can achieve almost 50mpg around the city. The engine sounds fine as long as I don't accelerate. If I'm still possible damaging the engine like that, let me know now so I can stop, lol.
