Default 02 ZX6R

I've already posted in the New Member section but I thought I'd post here as well. I've just crossed over from Honda CBR 600 F3. The Ninja seems to be smoother but way more sensitive compared to my F3. But on the other hand the other bike was 1996 model.. anyways, my friend's buddy sold me the bike for fairly decent price. One thing I'm wondering about, I thought most 2002 bikes are fuel injected and doesn't need the choke anymore. I've heard Ninjas are "cold-blooded" bikes and need more time to warm up than others. I have problem starting the bike.. just turns and turns. I'm afraid I'll flood it. I'm taking it to a shop and getting it fully inspected. Well just thought I'd introduce myself. Good to be part of the forum.

Hey bro. Good to have ya and if the IF statement was a question yes your bike is carborated. And to the other these I can't speak for the newer ZXs but yes you'll need to use your choke. As long as it's a nice day I don't need to use mine but if it's at all cold full choke makes start-up 1000X easier. And come over to the ZZR600 section, we've got the same bike as you just rebadged. and welcome if i haven't already said it.

And here are some noooob questions, I've searched for them but my search was too broad i guess:

1) First time having the split seat instead of a banana seat. The bike is a used bike from someone so I think the locking thing has been removed OR I'm stupid and don't know how to remove the seats. So help with that please.

2) I have to put in rear turn signals, I'm sure I'll have to wire it in since there are none there, so which wires to splice?

3) Temp gauge don't work. Sensor possibly off?

Thanks in advance!

Hey welcome, we have alot in common... i recently just switched to an 2002 ninja from a 1995 cbr and i would agree that its much more responsive and has ALOT more power

For your seat question there is a key hole on the side of the left rear fairing that unlocks the rear seat then you can pop that off, you sort of have to slide it towards the back of the bike to get it off because it hooks in up at the front. Once you get the back seat off there is a bolt underneath the rear seat that once removed you can take off the front seat, and access your battery.

Cant help with your other questions but hopefully you can get your seat figured out

So found out why the bike was so cheap. I took the bike into the shop to get a quick inspection done on it. One of the front rotor was warped, so the pad of course is compromised (stupid me, shouldve checked that before I bought it, I check everything else..). There is a hole in the radiator reserve tank from the aftermarket body ($25 in parts), short in the tail light, and hard time starting due to "weak" choke cable. Wow, and then they recommend new tires (which I was planning to do anyway) and 30,000 mile service ($450 to 480). [] lol so going with my girlfriend's recommedation, i said screw it just fix everything while it's in the shop. So they estimated about a grand total to get everything squared away. [:'(] give me some opinion on my decision.. yea I guess I shouldve taken it to a shop before I bought it for pre-purchase inspection.. no offense will be taken be open with me and give some pointers for next purchase/future reference Thanks!
