just bought a 97 zx11 what should I do???
I just got a 97 zx11. it runs well...but theres the notorious oiling issues we know of. the guy I got it from said that kawasaki resolved this issue by 97.Is this true??what do I,or should I do maint.on this bike. the last bike I had was a z1r 1000 that had the basic engine noises...this bike has the same engine noises.not knocks or rattles. Is this normal??

Congrats on your purchase, I hopw it serves you well! I have a 91 ZX11c and I have read several forums and posts that suggest keeping the uil level slightly above the full mark. Wheelies (especially extended ones) are a no-no. I am worried about this problem with my bike as well and I am hoping that running top quality synthetic oil like Amsoil or Castrol Syntec may help preserve your engine, but thats just my idea. Good luck with the bike and I hope you are an experienced rider becuase it is a missile, especially when you get over 7,000RPM. I.ve had mine up around 150mph with PLENTY more left, but just not enough road to do more.I really don't know if Kawasaki fixed the problem or not, can't help you there. Best of luck and enjoy!

Shim checks and tensioner checks. I have not read up extensively on the 11's, but the oil starvation issue is similar to most rides when doing long one wheel stints.
