How much engine noise is still OK???
Been reading this forum for awhile now and figured it's my turn to ask a question. I've got a 05 10r with a Acropvic slip on and about 2500 miles on it. The engine, (valves and rockers) seem to be louder than a thousand miles ago. Is this the nature of the beast and it just means the engine is good and broken in. The oil level is good and speaking of oil what do you guys think about synthetics. Figured I'd ask you guys about the noise before I waste my money going to the dealership. Thanks

RE: How much engine noise is still OK???
I noticed that all 10r's have a whirl sound, no biggey. Seems like most if not all 10r's are mechanically noisey. However, the 04 and 05 generators especially when failing will cause a lot of noise. Sorry to say, there is a history of failures on those generators. You may want to check it out.
edit: ZX10r.net has some good info on your ride. You will glean some good info concerning your ride there as well. Good luck.

like dragone said the kawas are louder, due to such thin engine casting you will be able to hear more engine noise then other bikes... Mine really hasnt gotten any louder and I have close to 8000 miles on it. I use amsoil full synthetic

Thanks for the input guys. Guess I'll have to get used to the noise. If I think it's getting any worse, I'll bring it to the dealership and let them check it out. As for the oil, I'll be switching over to synthetic when I put it to bed for the winter.......
