RE: Best method to break in a '07 ZX10R?
I poor metal shavings in my oil and ride around town for a couple of hours.... within factory spec break in and cut my break in period down by atleast 90%. Went back to the shop and put clean oil back in her... runs like a champ....
Warnning this procedure should only be done by a pro. please do not try this on your own and if you believed the above story then I did not waste my time writting it... lol
J/k bro I did the factory spec

I have an 07 zx10 and when I down shift I go to crack the throttle and the motor bogs down always on the first downshift. It does not happen on the rest of the way down through the gears. My bike only has 592 mi. on it. Anyone experienced this???????????

You don't want to redline it but bringing the r's half way up to redline is not a problem, no more than that for at least 1000 miles, on the flip side it is just as bad to lug the motor. Shift often, vary speed, minimum idle, don't overheat in slow traffic, Vary rpm's within range and warm up at idle for4-5 minutes minimum for first startup of the day. Cool motor will inherit leaks. Usually after first oil change you can ride it like you stole it!!!!!

DO NOT FOLLOW FACTORY GUIDELINES!! Will cost you up to 15 hp on the rear wheel...
* 1st 80 to 100 miles: ride her cleanly, but bravely. Use the clutch to go up in the gears and take her close to redline a couple of times, generally change gears at 6 to 9 K. DO NOT RIDE THE FIRST 100 MILES ON A MOTORWAY...
* At 100 miles: 1st oil change
* Next 100 miles: Ride her fast. Go to redline more frequently and start upshifting without the clutch.
* At 200 miles: second oil change.
* After that: ride it like you stole it.
I only use CASTROL R4 SUPERBIKE oil.
All engines have been tested en taken up to redline in the factory. Especially litre bikes: you won't hurt her and you'll have a far better bike afterwards!
