RE: Best method to break in a '07 ZX10R?
i used this method here: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm and my bike is running great with close to 3k miles on it and no problems [sm=shades.gif]. my last bike was a 99 r6 and the bike tech at the stealership told me to follow the manual guide lines to at least 500 miles and i had no problems with that bike either. i choose the run it hard method because i knew i had 25 miles of freeway riding to get home after i brought it. pick which ever method is most comfortable for you and then enjoy the bike [sm=signs003.gif].

I voted ride it like you stole it, but for real, just ride it. Vary the RPMS dont hold it at redline. Change the oil @ like 200 miles. then at 1500 and then ride it like you stole it. JMO thats what i have done on 3 brand new bikes with out any problems.
Better yet, i can break it in for ya.

Yea + 1 here. I have an 06 10 with over 2k on it. I dont think its a good idea to redline it for the first few hundred, no matter how good the machine process isbecause metal expands and contracts with heat and cooling, and it will do it the most early on. Best thing is to vary the rpms between 2k and 7-8k with a max of 3/4 throttal for the first few hundred miles. Change the oil before the 1st service at 200, ride it a little harder to 10k or so 3/4 throttal then get the 1st service done at 600 miles to make sure your fact warn. stays good and u dont have any loose cooling hose's or sutch. If u have run and cooled the engine more than 20 times by then Id bet that not much is going to change after that, hot to cold is how they break in. After the 600 its fair game within reason just keep the redline visits low untill 1000 to be safe. 3 brand new bikes, 02 GSXR 750, 04 yzf R6, and the 06 10 have all had this treatment and all have been fast and trouble free.A friend of mine who races says the factory suggestion is a play it safe mode for squids, but it doesnt hurt to follow that if your new to ridding.Retarded Timing is another example of squid control from the factory, lol, but a TRE is real nice!My 2 cents.
