I will be in the market for a liter bike here in a couple of months so I took the day and went and looked at the four jap bikes. The first place I went was Kawasaki and looked at the 08 ZX-10r and that is by far the ugliest bike IMHO. (no way will I buy one) I don't know what the designers were thinking but they ought to be fired, very dissapointed! The Honda 1000rr was a little better looks wise but it looks like it ran into the wall and got its nose smushed in. I am really leaning toward the R1 or GSXR 1000, I think they both look really good. The single light on the GSXR looks different but other than that I like it quite a bit.

What I will probably do now is start reading the magazines and see which one performs better, and make up my mind that way between the two. I know a lot of you are brand loyal and really like the new zx-10, and I am not posting this to rip on Kawasaki. This is just my .02 cents on what I thought of the choices.

 

i agree I do not like the way new 10 looks that is why I picked the 2nd gen 2006. Plus I got it for half the cost of a new one and it only had 2921 miles on it.

 

I would definately go for a older ZX-10!!! SKG you better keep those keys hidden!!!

 

I agree, get the 1st or 2nd generation zx10r. But if you must get a new ride? Honda has been getting a lot of praise in the mags if you are into that, the suzuki does look nice.....

I am not against getting a nice used bike. I do like the 1st and 2nd generation kawi and if I could get a good deal on a used one I would jump at it. I to have read a lot of good things about honda new 1000rr, but I can't get over how ugly the front end is. Granted it does look better than the new zx10, but it still looks like it has gotten its face beat in. Even if it is a good performer I am not sure I could ride around town on a ugly bike

Oh yea, I love my 636 way to much to get rid of it. Besides in another month it will be payed off.

 

right on! is one going to be a track bike? or just having two street rides?

 

I will keep them as two street rides, besides my wife wants to learn how to ride and I will let her ride the 636.
