Hi I am new to this forum and I hope sombody can help. I need to know what the purpose of the Grey wire that goes from the ECU to the ignition switch is on the 04/05 ZX10R? (American models)Accoring to the manual it goes to the ignition switch but it shows that there is no connection to anything when the switch is off or on. Here in the UK this grey wire is not in the wiring loom and is not connected to the ECU. (We have a coded ignition keyimmobiliser system) I am trying to get an AmericanECU to work on my bike but without any luck, and the only differences I can find is the fact that the US ECU has this Grey wire going to the Ignition switch and the UK version does not. According to the manual the pin that it is connected to on the ECU is a "communication line" Is there a resistor in the US ignition switch that sends a signal to the ECU? Hope sombody can help?

 

Welcome to the forums. I looked on my race ecu and did not see a grey wire. U.S. model 06 though. I will dig thru my manual to see if I can spot what you are referring to.

 

Thank you for the reply. The ECU and wiring on the 06/07 models are different to the earlier 04/05 years. I do not have a diagram for this year so I am unsure aswell.
