Used price for '08 650R
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I have the opportunity to purchase an '08 650R with 4,000 miles on it for around $5,000
My questions are:
With the miles on this bike what am I looking at for service items such as tires, chain, brakes, etc?
Is 4,000 miles too much for a bike that is 6 months old?
Would you buy a used '08 or purchase a new '09?
Thanks

Service (new schedule) is inspection only at 4K and 8k, Full service including oil, fuilter and plug change at 12K Valves at 26K miles.
Tyres as soon as the centre tread depth drops below 3mm (rear) and 2mm (front). On a low mileage bike, do an oil and filter change every year if it doesn't do 12K miles. Check the chain and pads whenever you clean the bike, but expect well over 20K from both if they're looked after and your riding is street, not track.
I'd buy an 08 because the frame has been changed on the 09 and I'd like to see reports from 12 month old well used bikes to be sure that the new frame has no problems.
4K miles on a six month old bike isn't high. I do about 8K per year and consider myself to be a low mileage rider. Bikes with very low mileage often have problems due to lack of use.
