RE: Prospective buyer
That doesn't sound like a bad price out the door.
Personally I wouldn't buy a Kawi gray bike because I think they are fairly invisible on the road (same color as the street, and the sky...) and I would avoid introducing that much more risk.

Dude, you do realize thatthey've been making that 250R literally since about 1987?In my humble opinion, it's looks areoutdated. They say patience is a virtue...and riding during winter aint all that fun anyways. Well,it depends where you live, but still, don't rush into it. I'd look around for a 2008 250R or get the 650R. Rememberthat classic song"only fools rush in."
I'm just saaaayin'...cause I made that exact same decision: I rushed out and bought a 2006 250R and ended up exchanging it five days later for a 650R because I got tired of looking at it, and alsodue to the factthat if you do any riding at 70mph on the freewaythe 250R has to cruise at like 9500rpm's -not very ideal.
Then again, they are pretty easy to sell once you get used to riding and want to upgrade. Maybe get a used bike to learn on -you'll probably drop it a couple times. This is why I wished I had installed those R&G frame sliders sooner[:@]

Hey yousef welcome to KF. If you are financing the bike I'm fairly sure you will haveto get the collision insurance in most states. I'd make sure about that 1st. you can call who your financing it with for that.
I'd also see what the interest will go to after the 24 month term and make sure your OK with that. a 250 is a great starter bike.
Good luck, Ride safe

@ fizzit
The dealer told me that it has a pearl colored coat or something that makes it shine white out in sunlight, so maybe that will help with visibility of the bike lol.
@ Ninja650RDude
Instead of waiting for the 250r till March, I could just go for the 250r 07 right now and then in March upgrade to a 500r or similar. Winter riding won't bother me that much, I live in S.C. and it is not that bad. I'll ride the bike myself and make my choices lol.
@ yoman1
Thanks, I will find out about the stuff you said. Collision makes my insurance go from $40 a month to $100 a month!! It sucks, but I guess I gotta get it cause I just found out the other day that I had to.

$6100 is a good price OTD. Esp. if you will get another $300 in gear. I paid $6800 OTD with no gear, and that was back in '06 when they were $6299 MSRP. The fuel injection was another reason I picked it over the 250. It's soooo smooth, and no choke to fiddle around with every time you start it. I heard the choke on the all new '08 250R is better that the outgoing 250R.I've seen pic's of big guys on the 650R and theyalmost dwarf it...let alone the 250R. I think at your size you'll behappier with the size and power of the 650R, and you'll have a new bike that you won't have to trade up in six months. Anyways, good luck. You really can't go wrong with Kawasaki. I know there are dealers with '08 250R's. My guess is the dealers you have talked toare just trying to get rid of all the '07's firstbecause they know no one would buyan '07if there wasone of theall new '08's sitting right next to it. There's gotta bea dealer somewhere around there that has one, or can get one for you if you pre-pay. Maybe Google "2008 250R in South Carolina" or something.

It a BS what the dealer told you about the 250R. That dealer is just like any other dealer, they want to make a quick sale. If you want a 250R, I suggest that you wait for the 2008. If you want a 650R, shop around. Is the $6100 out the door price? Whatever you do, dont get that air cooled suzuki GS500f.

welcome to KF! i went to hager cycle in rock hill s.c. and got my 07 650R. its a good beginner bike. (but if u have ur heart set on sumthing there aint no-one gonna be able to change ur mind) i got mine out the door for 6400.00. but i saved sum money by going down there cause in n.c. u gotta pay sumthing like 7% sales tax and i think down there its only 3% sales tax so i saved sum money anyways. hope u enjoy ur bike and be safe on the roads

RE: Prospective buyer
Most guys over on Ninja650.com have reported getting about 50mpg on the highway. It can def. hold it's own with the 600's up to 100mph. Great streetfighter that can behave like a docile commuter when you want. Uber Sleeper ;P

RE: Prospective buyer
i already get 45 in mixed riding on my zx6r - I do like the idea of getting 75mpg with the 250. but i love the looks of the 650 - its a work of art. especially the black with red rims.
but for now i'll stick with my 13 year old zx6r that i got for only 2K
