Default New Rider! Just got my first bike!

So I finished my MSF course about a week ago and finally got my first bike!

Took delivery today on a GREEN 08 650r. Was planning on getting a 250 but I couldn't wait a month and when I sat on the 650 it felt amazing! I've already got 50 miles on it! Unfortunately, when I was parking and tried to take the kickstand out, I slipped on some gravel and laid the bike down. Then when I lifted it up it FELL the other way

Damage isn't too bad, just a few scratches on both fairings (bound to happen anyway considering it's my first bike) and the little nub under one of the foot pegs broke off. I don't think this is very important though? It just looks like a bolt that goes into the tip of the peg. And yes I've ordered frame sliders but they aren't in yet.

congrats on the 650r - love those bikes. the nub ont he pegs is a grind peg essentially. its removable and replacable so that if you lean far enough to grind the pegs. it protects the pegs and you just replace the nub.

gear up and ride safe.

Nice looking bike and don't worry about the small scratches on the fairing, because I dropped mine sitting still the first day I had my 07 model. I have a scratch about 2" in diameter right under my R&G frame sliders to remind me that I need to be careful from now on out. I would suggest that you may want to get frame sliders though to hopefully protect the bike if you drop it agian, because it is your first bike.

I can't stay off this thing! 130 miles already on the first day, if i keep this up i'll need to get an oil change soon

Is it recommended to change the oil on stands? Or can you do it without it?

I already ordered frame sliders but they aren't here yet

I just go my new 650 last week. I have only got to ride home from the dealer so far. The weather sucks here right now. What brand of frame sliders did you order and where did order them from. Congats on the new bike

I have always changed the oil without stands, because I just stand the bike up off of the kick stand and let it drain.
