Default long rides with lower handle bars

I have a 3 day 700 mile ride coming up and want to swap the handle bars for somthing lower but i am wondering if I should wait until after the trip?

Does anyone find their lower bars uncomfortable for longer rides?

I typically lay down on the tank for longer rides anyways and higher speeds. But it is nice to sit up and stretch out once in a while. I will likely be averaging 70mph during the trip.

Any info or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.

As mentioned above........shorter = bad for long rides. I got the sport bars on my 650R and do enjoy them since I am quite tall for the bike. But you also lean more which I don't mind since I feel more comfortable leaning forward when hitting the twisties but my lower back will start getting a twitch after two hours of constant riding. I used to make it to the three hour mark with the stock bars....but that wasnt cause of my back....damn *** and nuts become numb from all the vibration hahaha!

Sport bikes first of all aren't the best long term riding bikes to start with. The 650 was set-up quite well though since it has a good upright riding position and a responsive suspension. Talk with the other riders and make sure to let them know if you need to take a break from riding during the trip.

thanks for the info. My uncle talked me into going on this trip and its a point to point ride. So i can ride at my own pace. Most of the group will be classic bikes and they tend to average a lower speed so hopefully i can take breaks every couple hours without falling behind.

Not sure I like how I interpreted this. Just ride your pace with the group. No race, take frequent breaks and enjoy the ride. Don't put too much more into the fact that you are riding and enjoying. Pay attention, gear up and ride safe.

I have a 350 mile 5hr trip coming up. I plan on making it with just one pit stop. Thats only in theory though. This is a new bike and I'm yet getting used to it. Its a ZX6R. The handle bars are pretty low on this bike and I might have to make most of the trip by laying on the tank for support. Also I think I'll be averaging about 75mph so sitting up would not be too comfortable.
If I were you I'd wait on the lower handle bars....

Why do people find it uncomfortable to sit up on their bike? I'm confused?

All I can think of is the wind factor but that only bothered me as a noob. I went with a Zero Gravity short double bubble cause I hated the huge stock ugly windscreen.

I'm more comfortable sitting up with my hand resting on my leg. Set-up cruise control (lock throttle) and you can switch what arm holds the bars.
