So, I started off about a year ago on a 2005 Ninja 250R. I absolutely loved that bike but, truth be told I got a heck of a deal on that bike because it was so beat up. The plastic was cracked everywhere, the tank was dented, the engine had a hellacious knocking. I didn't care. I rode that thing everywhere... and, yeah in the back of my mind I was ALWAYS worried about it breaking down but, it never did.

I gotta tell you though, when I first got the 650R it was missing a back brake pedal, and I could see the threads in the rear tire... don't ask. (One of my buddies mentioned that it wouldn't be my bike if something wasn't wrong with it.) Anyways, got that fixed. Just missing a front right turn signal now...

This bike feels like a danged old rocket ship compared to the old 250. I think if I had a long enough ramp and, it was the right angle I could jump that thing to the moon. I've definitely had some wide-eyed moments on the 650. Today I was pulling out of the gas station and a car was bearing down on me pretty quickly. So I hit it like I would have done on the 250. Man, I swear that front end came up if even just barely. I know because my attempts at steering were useless. Of course I just let off the throttle and everything was cool. (All this happened in like half a second but, it definitely felt longer.)

I'm sure there is tons of fun to be had on other bikes but, I can't ever see getting rid of this one.

 

Grats on the upgrade, once you get used to the new throttle you can have some real fun. The first time you get the front up can be scary, but it all works out if you keep your cool. Gear up, ride safe, have fun, and welcome to KF!
