I gotta get some power out of this thing!

I gotta get some power out of this thing!
Ok my wife rides an 06 650r, She is complaining that she can't keep up with the group from a dead stop. 0-60 take forever on a 650r in compairison to the 4 cylinder bikes. Now I have ridding her bike and I know if you real twist the throttle is got some ball in the higher rpm's. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of an aftermarket throttle that has a different cam ratio so you don't have to twist it as much to get full throttle? I think this could be a snappy bike if you didn't have to grip the throttle twice just to get full throttle. I'm not gonna spend a boat load of money on a pipe and PC just to hear her say it didn't help much. I think if I can get the throttle to open faster she would be just fine. The problem is she rode an F-3 cbr600 and she didn't have to give it much throttle to keep up with everyone. So does anyone have any advice?

hahaha, it is a parrallel twin! I am not sure on your wifes abilities, but if a 1/5 throttle is being made for a 10r, I would think that it would fit a 650r. I have not played that route, I prefer my throttle control. Maybe your wife is crazier and does the straight line stuff. Something to look into.

You can look at www.ninja650shop.com, or www.blueridgeperformance.comthey maybe able to help you out with finding what you need. I know that the bike is not rocket, but the 0 to 60 time is 3.8 seconds and that is because the bike is a parrallel twin. The bike was designed to be more friendly around town and able to make more torque than a inline 4 at lower rpm's. I have not problem with keeping up with bikes off the lights, but once we get going it is a different story.

Try removing the secondary throttle plates. The 650r has two sets of plates. The upper plates are controlled by the onboard PCM and open more slowly then the primaries that connect the throttle grip. This is to create a smother more even torch curve but it also slows acceleration some. I also found that without the extra plates I could shift more smoothly do to improved control.
