Congrats on the 650! Does not hurt to ask and get comfy on the new ride.

edit: 200 miles to the tank sounds pretty good nc_650r.

i also have an 07 650r and my gas light usually comes on at 150 - 160miles..... so for you to only be getting a 100 outta a tank seems really low....

Congrats on the new bike! I just picked one of those up too...it's been a blast so far. Don't worry, I won't hate on you for getting it one hundred cheaper than I got mine...haha. What color is your bike? I got the blue one.

I don't beleive my new 650 has a reserve? The specs on the Kawasaki website say that it has a 4.1 gallon gas tank, yet everytime I fill up, the gas pump marks about 2.70 gal.

Not all the gas in the tank is usable, and the light gives you a reserve as well so you should never have to put 4.1 in unless your drain the tank. But 2.7 seems a little low for a tankup, the problem is probably either the refuling technique or a poorly adjusted fuel sensor. If yourfilling up with the nozzle only slightly in the tank, you may try talking to the dealer.

Also it is a Cali bike, anyone know if the tank capacity is different??

I didn't think they were making the Blue for 08 - I thought they made the green one instead.

I was so excited to buy a 2008 Ninja 250, but I got impatient waiting for distribution… so I bought a new 07 Ninja 650 last weekend for $6500 cash. I really needed to be on two wheels as traffic in my neck of the woods is ridiculous (southern cali and San Diego/Tijuana border).

I’m noticing that it holds the same amount of gasoline as my old 250 Ninja, but instead of having to gas up every 150 miles it seems as if I have to gas up every 100 miles. Obviously it’s a bigger engine, but that is a dramatic decrease in MPG!!!

Thats funny because I was in the same situation. I was going to sell my bike (07 250) and get the 08. Then I started thinking what the hell with $4300 I can get a used 650r. So I'm in the middle of purchasing that now. Gotta have the black 06 model with the red frame though. I love it. The wait is probably causing other people to look elsewhere too.

I have been getting about 130 miles to a tank of gas for a awhile now, but before I installed my exhaust I was getting 150 mile to a tank. I think I need to get the PCIII to get the bike tuned properly, because I can hopefully recover some of my lost gas mileage I lost.

Same situation...I paid for an 08 250 because evidently Kawasaki was suppose to ship one out a week ago..turns out it still wasn't shipped and could take up to a month so I purchased an 08 650r instead.

Taking delivery tomorrow, will post pics

I just fill my tank for the first time. I had a little over a hundred miles on the tripmeter and I put 2.5 gal in the low fuel light did not come on. I not sure if I started with a full tank. The dealer filled it for me so I could drive it home [8D]

My low fuel light comes on at 130 miles on my odometer and it always takes 3.1 gallons of gas to fill it up. I wish the dealer filled my tank up with gas, I guess the one I bought my 650r from is just cheap.
