Zero Gravity Sport Touring Wind Screen

RE: Zero Gravity Sport Touring Wind Screen
I got one for my ZX9R (mostly for my dog) and while the optical clarity is better than stock, the overall build quality is not as good as the stock, plastic shield IMO. The shield is thinner, has rougher edges, and doesn't have the the little 'lip' on top, which appears to make some difference in the turbulence. (Also IMO.)
If it weren't for my dog, I wouldn't seem the point of a windscreen that raises the wind level 2 or 3 inches--might keep the wind off your nipples, but what's the point?
Good luck though and let us know how it works out if you get one.

Is there a better option?
It would seem to make sense that a larger shield would deflect air up, but I guess first hand knowledge is the proof. My nipples aren't the problem it's more the violent buffeting at most highway speeds. Crouching down helps so I thought the higher shield might help.
Are there any thicker shields?
Better company or design?

I've ridden larger touring bikes and I actually prefer sportbikes for this reason.
An uninterrupted flow is infinitely smoother than sitting in the turbulence created behind a windshield.
Sure you'll get occasional turbulence when you're riding behind semis or in crosswinds, but I prefer that to getting it constantly behind a tall windshield.
And I'm not aware of any other companies that make them. Laminar Lip makes these little clear airfoils that extend your stock windscreens, but you're still just raising the wind flow from your belly to your *******.
Good luck!

The Laminar Lip shield sounds interesting. Ijust looked attheir site. I may just try it. The aerodynamics seem to be better than a taller shield. The air could just tumble off of the top of the taller shield whereas this smooths the flow up and over.

Kohburn, are you currently riding a 500?
Aftermarket windscreens have a different effect on different bikes. The 500R's stock screen is much, much taller than most of the larger Ninja models.
