The vacuum pump costs less than $25, but you can still bleed the brakes without it just fine.
You really don't want to get the manual and learn about your bike, do you?

i will buy the manual, but not for this bike. srobak explained to me how to bleed then without the pump. so from now on i know how to do it myself. i'm planning on selling this bike soon because i want to buy a 650 i think.

Hey Kev, don't feel bad at your attempt to work on your own bike. A lot of us don't have the money to take the bike to the shop every time. The manual will be invaluable to you as you get to know your bike. Good for you for getting in there. The only thing I won't do on my bike yet is adjust the valves. I have had my bike in the shop a couple of times for warranty work and they checked the valves for me for free both times and they were perfect. Good luck.

to bleed brakes without a vacuum pump you follow these steps

1: top of the brake fluid resevoir
2: open the bleeder nipple on the caliper a little
3: press down on the brake lever and hold it down
4: close the bleeder nipple
5: release the brake lever

repeat untill fluid with no air bubbles comes out of the bleeder.

it helps to put a peice of clear hose/tubing on the bleeder nipple to keep the bike clean and to help see air bubbles.

one thing that im also nervous about is the piston was stuck in the chamber...could that affect bleeding the brakes at all?

Where can I get a service manual and supplement? Besides the dealer. He's get something against not overcharging.

Ronayers.com
Bikebandit.com
Buykawasaki.com

And they also come up on Ebay fairly often.
