Default Who drilled slides/cut springs? What size?

I see some jet kits call for drilling the slides out, anyone know the size they recommend? Anyone cut the slide springs? How much? Thanks, Jim.

I cut 2 coils off the slide springs so far, feels like I picked up a bit of response, bike feels lighter and like the flywheel is lighter too. More to come when I get some spare carb parts to butcher. Anyone got some slides, springs and a throttle cable cam to donate to the cause?? Jim.

A drilling of 5/32 will add to the 2 cut coils off the spring to increase response and allow the 500 to rev a bit quicker. Guess I'm the only one messing with this. Still looking for a set of carbs or a throttle cable cam/mount from a set of carbs to get the butterflies open at about 70 degrees, anyone got a set laying around????? Didn't Calamarichris just wreck one of these??? Glad to mod your carbs for you! Thanks, Jim.

have you noticed any improvment in the low-end range? I think when drilling the slides the bike should be richer in the low-end range.

Thanks.

She revs muck quicker, feels like a lighter flywheel is the best I can describe it, spools up faster.

Yes, the drilling make the slides lighter and the cut springs have less resistance so the vacuum can lift them easier. This is an old trick for big KTM LC4s that had diaphram carbs like these. Next to find a set of carbs to mess with the linkage ratio, I'd like these to open full at 70 degrees or so, gotta turn it too far to get them open! Jim.
