What octane gas to use for the EX500R
Newbie here from Canada
I ride a Yamaha FZ1 and my wife used to ride a Yamaha 650.
She sold it last week and bought a 2003 EX500.
She would like to know what fuel it takes. Regular, Mid Grade, or High Octane.
I'm sure it is in the manual but it does not have an owners manual, yet.
It is on order.
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forums....
That 500 still has some pretty high compression and revs, so I would go with the super. My personal preference though..
Enjoy your stay....

I'll double check the manual when my wife crawls out of bed (the manual is in her bedroom), but if memory serves me correctly, it "says" 87 octane, aka regular grade (at least here in the wash, dc area).

I've always gotten the best milage out of 87 octane (just add my $.02 and beat dead horse deader). 91 (or high grade) just make the bike run poorly and get really poor milage.
