Default Water Pump Frustrations

I bought a 2006 Ninja 500R with 1300 Miles for $1,000 Dollars (Lean Sale). It had crash damage but the owner had all the parts to assemble it back together. So i paid and I got all new cowling, headlamp etc. So now it looks brand new. Anyways I went to reinstall the water pump (which was the side it was dumped on) got everything installed. Fired it up, Ran it around for a few miles, came back, and there was a puddle of coolant underneath the bike. Well tore the pump down again and checked the seals, all are good and this time i replaced gaskets and installed gasket sealer. Fired it up again. Did the same thing. Then I went to Autozone and got some gasket material and made my own gaskets hoping that would fix the problem, made them exactly the same and applied gasket sealer. Well i thought the 3rd time would be a charm. So much for that. So now I am out of ideas. Has anyone had this problem before. its all new parts on water pump, and the cases arent cracked from the crash. Any help would be appreciated. thanks alot

Adam

I've got a spare waterpump & cover. Drop me a line and tell me where you're at.

take the impeller off (its reverse threaded) and check the seal behind it. make sure the back of the impeller isnt tearing up that seal.

RTV silicone will work instead of a gasket too

also dont put it back on too tight, you can break the shaft
